ABOUT PASTOR HUMPHREYS
Pastor Humphreys has been at Cedar Hill Missionary Baptist Church for 30 yrs. He is a native of Paris, Tn., the son of the late Mrs. Ola Coleman, the late Woodrow Coleman and the late O. D. Humphreys. Pastor Humphreys professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church by the late Rev. George Williams. Pastor Humphreys accepted a call to the ministry and became ordained in 1974. He has served as musician for several churches throughout West Tenn. He was educated in the Henry Co. Schools and is a 1971 graduate of Henry Co. High School. He is also a 1975 graduate of Lane College, Jackson, Tn. with a BA degree in music. He attended the American Theological Seminary and has also completed graduate work at The Univ. of Memphis, Murray State University and The Univ. of Tenn. at Martin. He is a retired Sergeant of the Tenn. National Guard after serving 22 years. He's previously been a choral instructor at Henry Co. High School for 29 years and is serving his 6th term as a Henry County Commissioner. He currently teaches elementary music in the Henry County School System. He is married to the former Sylvia Casey of Union City, Tn. who is an elementary school counselor in the Paris Special School District.
Since Pastor Humphreys has been at Cedar Hill, many changes and much growth in both membership and facilities has occurred. Some years ago, there was interest by church members to implement a building improvement project and with the vision of Pastor Humphreys, prayers and hard work, in June of 1999, Cedar Hill members worshipped in a new sanctuary. The old sanctuary has been remodeled and brought up to date and is now utilized as a center for bible study, prayer service and dining . Many more improvements have taken affect with the leadership and divine guidance of Pastor Humphreys.
